Obituary of George H. Heller

George H. Heller, 79 Born at home, Rensselaer, New York, to John and Margaret Heller. Attended Rensselaer Public Schools. Graduated Van Rensselaer HS in 1956. Graduated from RPI with a Bachelors Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Accepted a job as Valuation Engineer with the NYS Division of Equalization and Assessment. Joined the United States Air Force in March 1962. Returned to the Division in July 1965, retiring as Principal Valuation Engineer in 1994. Retired from the Air National Guard in 1988 and from the Air Force Reserve in 1992 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. For many years George was a member of the Yankee Doodle band, Elks, American Legion. PSIA, Civil Air Patrol and Coxsackie Sportsmen's Club. He was an avid skier and loved working as a certified ski instructor at Brodie and Windham Mountains. He also enjoyed flying and was a certified flight instructor. Pre-deceased by his parents, John and Margaret Heller, brother John and sister-in-law Mary. Survived by his wife of 47 years Marilyn (Schaefer) Heller, four children: Lauren, Gretchen(Steve), Ingrid, Hans(Christina), grandchildren Tyler and Evan, brother Frank Heller and sister-in-law Jane Heller. Family and friends may pay their respects at a graveside service at Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville on Friday, June 22nd at 10 a.m. Memorial service at Church of the Holy Spirit, 667 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush on Saturday, June 23rd at 10 a.m. followed by reception at 12 p.m. Melvin Roads Post, 200 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Civil Air Patrol, 130 Sicker Road Latham, NY 12110
