Obituary of Mary H. Foster

Mary H. "Polly" Foster 92 of East Greenbush died Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at home after a brief illness.. Polly was born in Watertown to the late Robert G and Agnes Horr. Polly spent her early years in Watertown, and graduated high school from Knox School for Girls in Cooperstown, NY and received a bachelor degree in teaching at Wheelock College in Boston. . In 1949 she married Calvin Foster and in 1956 they moved to East Greenbush. Polly was a reading teacher for over 25 years in the East Greenbush School system. Calvin and Polly were also longtime members of the Greenbush Reform Church. They had many fond memories of their summers in the 1000 Islands, their boating on Lake George, and several trips to Europe. She also enjoyed golfing and was very active in many community affairs. In 1989 they decided to spend their winters in Naples, FL where they loved beaches and golf and social life. She and Cal were married 60 years until his passing in 2009. Predeceased by her brother, Robert Horr Jr.. Polly is survived by three children John (Nany) Foster of Holand, MI, Thomas Foster of Castleton and Ann Zownir of Schodack Landing one sister: Josephine Allen. She is also survived by six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service 2:00 pm on Saturday July 21, 2018 at the Greenbush Reformed Church 688 Columbia Tpk., East Greenbush, NY. Corner of Hayes Rd.
