Obituary of Dorothy A. Rivers

Dorothy A. Rivers passed away peacefully in her home on October 11, 2018. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Harry H. Rivers, two sons Harry D. Rivers, Shawn J. Rivers and a sister Pearl Haslam. She is mother of Glen Rivers and Nadine Fuda; grandmother of Glenn Rivers Jr., Charles Fuda III, Steven Rivers, Krystle Lindsay, Ashley Campion, Keirstien Downey, Shawn J. Rivers, Jr. &, Maya and Shelby Rivers; great-grandmother to Avery Rivers, Michael & Brooklyn Fuda, Rich Lindsay Jr., Gavin, Carter & Jordan Downey, Michaley & River Campion and Shawn J. Rivers III. In 1951 she married her one true love, Harry H. Rivers and they spent 38 years building a life for their family. She always enjoyed gardening, making jewelry, oil painting and spending time outdoors. She was an avid equestrienne and showed Tennessee Walking Horses, winning many trophies and ribbons. She was an expert creator of wedding cakes and Christmas decorations. She made Christmas a grand and special holiday for her entire family and we always said she loved Christmas more than Santa himself. She was a trustee of St. Paul's Methodist Church and enjoyed decorating for the holidays, and distributing the flowers for various events. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, October 16 from 11 -1 PM at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1583 Carney Rd., Castleton NY with a funeral service following. Internment will be in Horizon View Cemetery, Castleton. Contributions may be made to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
