Obituary of William E. Houlton

County Niskayuna William E. Houlton, Jr. 84 of Niskayuna died suddenly Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at St Peter's Hospital. William was born in Troy. He was a graduate of CBA. Bill attended St. Michaels in Vermont and received his bachelor and masters from St. Rose. He retired after 38 years as a Research Biologist for Sterling Research Institute. Bill is also survived by his 3 children Debbie, Regina and Michael; one sister: Millie Bill is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carol Ann (Pratt) Houlton. Married at the Sacred Heart Convent of Kenwood in 1979. Bill's enjoyment of life was camping and traveling with Carol across all of the states in the Continental US and the providences of Canada in their earlier years and dedicating his time with his parents, Carol's mother (Alice Pratt), Aunt Dorothy and his devoted dogs Shane and Dakota. After retiring, Bill and Carol spent their time traveling extensively around the world. Bill is also survived by his in-laws; Warren and Dorothy Pratt, Wayne and Carolyn Pratt, Alex and Linda Shannon and Joyce Pratt (predeceased Ronald Pratt and Marilyn Griffith) and many nieces and nephews. Bill's life was one of Faith, Family and Love. Bill was a member of the Colonie Elks and was an amateur radio operator. He also ran a furniture program for the South end St. John's and St. Ann's Center. He was a communicant previously at St. John's and St Ann's Church in Albany and now at Blessed Sacrament Church. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass Monday 10:30 Am at The Parish of St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph 50 Herrick St., Rensselaer, NY where a liturgy of Christian death and burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk. Rensselaer, Sunday from 4-7.
