Obituary of William Arthur Pier

Rev. William Arthur Pier Sr. was born November 16, 1930 in Girard, Pennsylvania and was promoted to Glory on March 6, 2019 at Schodack, NY. He was one of eight children of Russell Sr. and Helen Pier. He graduated from Zion Bible Institute, Providence, RI in 1952, married Marceline Vigue and moved to Gorham, Maine to pioneer Full Gospel Assembly, the first Pentecostal church in Gorham, ME. In 1963 the family moved to Colombia where Bill and Marcy served as missionaries establishing churches for 24 years. They established a Bible School in Abeokuta, Nigeria and worked to establish on in Kenya as well. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years Marceline on November 30, 2106, a son Paul Omri and daughter Esther Jean as well as three brothers, Milton, Laverne, and Stewart. He is survived by a daughter Deborah, and two sons, William Jr., and Caleb along with 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He is also survived by a brother, Russell and three sisters, Ruth, Pamela and Mary, and 26 nephews and nieces. Services will be held at New Life Assembly of God, 292 Hays Road, East Greenbush, NY at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 16th with a graveside committal service at Falcon Memorial Cemetery, Brooks Street Extension, Falcon, NC at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 18th.
