Obituary of Susan E. Durkin
Susan C. Durkin, 63, died suddenly on Monday, November 20, 2017 at her home in East Greenbush. Sue was an employee of the New York State Comptroller's Office, having worked for nearly 20 years in their Albany offices.
Sue's passion was her family. That passion was ever so evident by her attendance at literally hundreds of Little League, Pop Warner, Columbia Track and Field and Cross Country, Le Moyne Cross Country, SUNY Oneonta Track and Field and Cross Country, gymnastics, youth soccer, and youth basketball games, as well as plays, band concerts, and dance recitals.
Sue was predeceased by her father Robert Calvert.
Sue is survived by her husband of 41 years, David Durkin, and three sons, Michael (Tracy), Timothy, and Matthew (Rachel) and four precious grandchildren: Liam Joseph, and Sue's three little princesses, Evelyn Rose, Lillian Rose, and Olivia Grace.
Sue is also survived by her mother Evelyn (Martyn) Calvert; four sisters: Ginny, Mary (John), Lois (Scott), and Claudia (Carl), and two brothers: Robert (Emily) and Brian (Robin), sisters-in-law Dorothy, Jeanette (Jim), brother-in-law Edward (Ann Marie), and cousins, nieces and nephews too numerous to mention, but they were all her favorite.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet on Saturday, November 25th at 12:00 pm at the Rockefeller Funeral Home (165 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, NY) and accompany Sue and her family to Holy Spirit Church (667 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush, NY). A liturgy of Christian death and burial will be celebrated at 12:30pm. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery Roxbury, CT.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Rockefeller Funeral Home Friday, November 24th from 4-7 pm to celebrate Sue's life and share memories.
In lieu of flowers, Sue would ask that you make a contribution to a charity of your choice and that you be kind to one another
