Obituary of Philip J. Billow
Philip J. Billow, age 80, of East Greenbush, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 with his family at his side. Philip was born in Granville, NY the son of Basil and Mary Billow. Following service to his country in the Air Force, his career accomplishments included manager of Hamilton Printing Company and the Owner Operator of NewArt Printing in Albany, NY for many years prior to retirement.
Philip leaves his wife of 57 years, Helen Kay (Gilbert) Billow, daughter Deborah and his sons Nicholas (wife Tracy), and Daniel (wife Vicki) along with five brothers: William, Michael (Mesho), Steven, Donald and David Billow. Philip was also the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Phil was known for his generous spirit and plentiful, kind words of wisdom. He will be remembered and missed by the many people whose lives he touched and his impact will be forever with us.
Family and friends are welcome to attend his calling hours 4-7 PM Monday, November 27 at the Rockefeller funeral home at 165 Columbia Tpk. Rensselaer, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM, Tuesday, November 28, at the Church of the Holy Spirit 667 Columbia Tpk., East Greenbush, NY. Following the mass, interment will be held at 2pm at St.'s Peter and Paul Cemetery, Granville, NY. In honor of his family's proud history in the slate business, Phil asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his memory to the Granville Slate Museum at 17 Water St. Granville NY, 12832.
