Raymond W. Lemka, 86, entered eternal life on January 23, 2018. Ray was born June 25, 1931, to Frederick and Jessie Lemka of Phillips Road, Schodack. Ray lived his entire life in the farmhouse he was born in, cherishing and working that land. He became the second generation farmer, as well as, an entrepreneur who founded Appleland Farm Market in East Greenbush, known for its original old fashioned cider. Ray was active in Schodack politics, regularly expressing his opinions through letters. He was also involved in The Grange, Northeast Woodworkers Association, Extension Service, Farm Bureau, Capital District Farmers' Market, 4-H, East Greenbush Methodist Church, Columbia High School Class of 1950 Alumni and most recently founder of the Capital Area Beekeepers Club. His favorite activities were flying his 172 Cessna Plane, and always appreciating the wonder and beauty of God's world. While in his mid 70s he hiked and enjoyed the beauty of the Grand Canyon twice. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Suzanne Stockman Lemka. He always considered himself the luckiest guy to have her as a wife and business partner. Together they proudly raised four daughters; Diane (Paul) Becker, Kristine (Kenneth) Johnson, Robin (James) Perry and Joy (Ransen) Lemka-Caola. Ray loved his grandchildren: Jacklyn (Ryan) Becker Banas, Holly (Kevin) Becker Cullen, Karah Johnson, Paige Johnson, Jake Johnson, Alyxe Perry, Bryce Perry, Logan Caola, Hunter Caola and Great Granddaughter Grace Cullen.
