Obituary of Edward R Bender
Edward R. Bender, 89 of East Greenbush, NY, entered eternal life, Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Evergreen Commons Nursing Home. Edward was born in Albany on July 31, 1928. He lived his entire life in East Greenbush, NY. He was a self-employed carpenter and house builder and served as a councilman for the Town of East Greenbush under the Republican Party for two terms. Ed also worked and retired from the New York State Senate and served 10 years in the National Guard. He vacationed in Florida, Alaska, Hawaii, New Jersey Shore, and numerous cruises. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, baseball, and all sports. In later years, he became a member of the Immanuel Church in Castleton-on Hudson, NY. Predeceased by his parents Veronica and Leonard Bender, his first wife Pearl (Miller) Bender, and his second wife Karen (Shaver) Bender, brothers Andrew and Wayne Bender.
Survivors include his sons Ronald E. and Richard (June) Bender; Brothers: Kenneth (Betty) Bender, Richard (Grace) Bender, sisters: Jean Brady and Katherine Bellinger. Three grandchildren: Lawrence (Cindy) Pitts, Cheryl (Mike) Wallisch, Noel (Stas) Kondracki. Six great grandchildren: Steven Kehn, Jacob and Emily Pitts, Samuel, Hannah, and Sarah Kondracki and one great great grandchild Skylar Kehn. A very special thank you to Nicolette and Vincent Fedorowitz who lovingly supported Ed throughout his life and through his time in care.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Monday at 12 o'clock noon at the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, Inc. 165 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer. Friends and family are invited to his calling hours Monday 9-12 prior to the funeral.
