Obituary of Joseph D. Naglieri

Joseph D. Naglieri, 91, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2018 at St Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born and raised in Brooklyn, the proud son of the late Antonio and late Anna Naglieri. Joe, known to most as "Joe Bananas", was a Naval veteran of WWII in the Pacific Theatre. Upon leaving the service he became a longshoreman for Chiquita Brands, relocating to East Greenbush in 1972 as a supervisor for United Brands where he retired after 41 years of service. He was a life member of the East Greenbush Fire Dept, Melvin Roads American Legion Post, and the Rensselaer Elks BPOE 2073. Joe was an avid baseball fan of the New York Yankees, but most of all his love of family and country was first and foremost. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Fannie "Dolly" (Losi) Naglieri, daughter Theresa Naglieri, son Anthony (Julie) Naglieri, his sister Antoinette (Roger) Arrigali, and three brothers Michael (Dolores) Naglieri, Pasquale (Angie) Naglieri and Cosmo (Patricia) Naglieri. Joe was the proud grandfather of Jillian LeJeune, Joseph (Laura) Naglieri, and Ashley Bruno; and precious great-granddaughters Mikaela and Jessica Werther. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his special friend James "Stunada" Walsh. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his brother Frank (Phyllis) Naglieri, two sisters Ann (Al) Palumbo and Carmela (Gaetano) Naglieri, and his infant granddaughter Jennifer Marie Naglieri. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Monday February 26th beginning 9:30 a.m. at the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer. Then at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Church, 667 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush, NY a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated, followed by interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Amsterdam. Friends and family are invited to his calling hours Sunday, February 25th, from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions in Joe's name may be made to the W.F.
